The pastor

He is well known by the name “Pastor” as many people do not know his real name. Many have never bothered of inquiring his real name due to the satisfaction they get from this name he has been branded. This is due to his well known character of carrying a bible and a stick, a symbol of a good shepherd. But there is more to tell about the Pastor.

His real name is Sammy Kimeto. This is according to his supervisor Mr. Ibrahim Kiprono (the supervisor of general security in Moi University-Main Campus). Kimeto works as security guard in the University, but he is not assigned to a specific area to guard, but just moving around the University.

Pastor has no family, as he is not married neither does anyone knows of his family background. According to the inquiry that was done to some of the security officers at the administration block, no one knows Pastor’s origin. Additionally, he came to Moi University vicinity when he was still young. Initially he resided at stage, where he used to match the moment he saw vehicles. One day he saw V.C’s car passing by and started matching while holding his stick firmly, the thing that impressed Prof. Mibey (the Vice Chancellor of Moi University) and secured a job post for him as a security guard.

Pastor stays at the staff quarters found at Ngeria. He leaves lives with his supervisor Mr. Ibrahim Kiprono who takes care of him as he is not mentally fit. According to the security officer we interviewed, initially Pastor was totally not able to speak. Later, due to his interaction with the varsity residents, he can now speak a little of Kiswahili and English!

No other business he does apart from the assigned security task around the varsity. One of the mysterious things with Pastor is that nobody knows how he spends the money he gets from his pay. Indeed, Pastor is a mysterious being but he has invisible strength.
